With the latest release (1.0.10) of SoundMaker, we're introducing Live Editing. A powerful new feature that allows you to update and tweak your sound libraries directly from the editor while they're loaded in the players. No more switching back and forth, reloading projects, or breaking your creative flow. Now, you can make adjustments in real-time and hear the results instantly.

This streamlined workflow is designed to save time and keep your focus on crafting immersive audio experiences. Whether you're fine-tuning parameters, modifying effects, or making structural changes to your sound libraries, Live Editing ensures a seamless process.

Enabling Live Editing

To start using Live Editing, follow these simple steps:

  • Open Preferences: In the SoundMaker Editor, navigate to the Preferences window.

  • Choose Your Update Mode: There are two key settings to control how changes are applied:

  • Send Parameter Changes to Players

    • Updates player instances with changes made in the editor.

    • Supports real-time parameter adjustments, adding/removing components, applying DSP effects, and reassigning bus outputs.

    • Only requires a re-export if audio assets are added or if certain components (like event or runtime parameter assignments) need to be reflected in the Player Inspector panel.

  • Auto Reload FPK When Exported

    • Automatically reloads the FPK inside SoundMaker Player when exported.

    • Eliminates the need for manual reloading.

Why Live Editing Matters

Live Editing is designed to enhance the workflow of sound designers working with both linear and interactive projects. Whether you’re working on a complex adaptive music system, real-time sound effects, or immersive audio environments, this feature ensures you can iterate quickly and efficiently.

With Live Editing, you can now:

Refine sound design in real-time without losing creative momentum.

Eliminate unnecessary reloading and focus on your project.

Streamline workflow by making instant changes without disruptions.

SoundMaker continues to evolve with features that prioritize flexibility and ease of use.
